Salmon-pink with a coppery glow in the glass. The grapes come from vines planted in 1976 on Etna's terraced, southwest-facing slopes. The nose is exuberantly fruity, with strawberry, raspberry and tropical red fruit, joined by a light floral note. On the palate the wine is rich and juicy: red fruit dominates, carried by a fine minerality that recalls the volcanic, lava-streaked soil, and a fresh acidity that keeps everything in balance. The finish is surprisingly persistent for a rosé, with a light saline note. Serve chilled, around 10°C, as an aperitif or with a summer lunch of grilled fish, pizza or other barbecue fare.

    About this wine

Masseria Setteporte lies on the southwestern slope of Mount Etna, near the Sicilian village of Biancavilla, at an altitude of 600 to 800 metres. The certified organic estate has belonged to the Portale winemaking family for generations and works exclusively with the volcano's native grape varieties. This rosé is made from Nerello Mascalese, complemented by Nerello Cappuccio — the same grapes used for Etna Rosso, applied here for the first time to a pink wine. The grapes grow on terraced vineyards at 700 metres on Etna's southwestern slope, from vines planted in 1976 in lava sand. After a brief skin maceration before pressing, the wine ferments in stainless steel at a controlled temperature and rests on its fine lees for a few months, followed by at least three months in bottle — giving the wine its fresh, mineral character.
