  • Tasting note Nyroca Negroamaro 2020

In the glass, this Nyroca shows a deep ruby-red colour with purple hues. The nose opens with ripe dark fruit - blackberry and cherry - joined by subtle spice and a faint mediterranean herbal note. On the palate the wine is full and round, with juicy fruit, a firm yet ripe tannin structure and a fresh undertone that hints at vineyards grown close to the sea. The finish is long and warm, with a lingering touch of red fruit and spice. Serve this Negroamaro at 16-18°C with heartier Puglian dishes, such as orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe, grilled lamb or a rich pasta sauce with tomato and spicy salami.

    About this wine

Tenute Lu Spada is a young winery from Brindisi, founded in 2015 between Lake Cillarese and the Adriatic Sea. It farms almost entirely organically and focuses on the native grapes of Salento, with vineyards whose setting gives the wines a distinctly fresh, maritime character.

Nyroca is a 100% Negroamaro, the most important red grape of Salento and the backbone of Puglian winemaking. The variety is known for its deep colour and its characteristic blend of ripe fruit and firm tannins, forming the foundation here for a wine with real personality.

The vines grow on vineyards close to the Adriatic coast, where the sea breeze cools the grapes and lends the wine its fresh undertone. After harvest the must ferments at 22-24°C in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine ages for twelve months on steel and a further three months in bottle - an approach that keeps the fruit centre stage while giving the wine both structure and softness.
